CargoLine Logistics Network
The co-operation CargoLine was founded in 1993 and is today counting 43 partners in Germany with all together 44 terminals. The CargoLine co-operation started as a consequence of the new market demands appearing after the formation of the EU inner market. Transport buyers now wished only one forwarder who could cover Germany entirely within 24 hours. Many forwarders realised that this was only possible in co-operation with others, and then the idea was born – to form a co-operation between independent and regionally strong transport companies in order to compete with large concerns and “integrators”.

HUB - the freight terminals begin
CargoLine was primarily based on direct traffics between the partners, but gradually a need for a central HUB was formed, where all partners would meet with one truck every night to exchange the smaller parties for the minor destinations. Central HUB, located in Eichenzell by Fulda, was opened in 1996. Subsequently came the regional HUBs NorthHUB by Hannover and SouthHUB in Göppingen near Stuttgart.

The internationalisation
Concurrently with the European trade expansion the CargoLine partners were more and more internationally focused, so it was now not only a matter of servicing Germany but also many West European countries. In 2003 the first international partners began docking at Central HUB Fulda and since then wheels have been spinning fast. Today 16 international partners are driving to the Central HUB every night.

Daily departures!
Reduction of stocks and the just-in-time deliveries are today market demands, and therefore daily departures to all destinations are of utmost importance. We provide daily departure for all destinations in Germany - every day of the year !

Transports are daily optimised to the daily production need, and due to our big volume and good systems, we can guarantee a delivery certainty, second to none.

Tracking
All CargoLine partners in Germany work with real-time scanning systems. This means that all goods are provided with barcodes, and cargo is scanned at every reloading, resulting in easy tracking from start to end point, available for us to follow via the internet. This method makes us able to follow goods all the way to the consignee and react on possible deviations from the planned transport schedule. This gives us the possibility also to monitor the quality of our transports, and make necessary procedure-corrections if needed. The international CargoLine partners will in the near future also scan all cargo up to the end consignee.

Communication and IT
All cargo details are distributed via a 24 hours IT-service solutions provider, to make the information permanently available for all partners. Also POD’s, loadinglists and signatures are permanently available as they are on file electronically.

Products
CargoLine offers a wide range of products and services such as “Next Day Delivery”, Before 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, Saturday Delivery, Express etc. where standards are closely monitored and processes followed. This ensures correct delivery and thereby satisfied customers.

The visions
The CargoLine partners are bound to each other by contract and we thereby have long-term interests in, and relations to each other. This ensures the functionality of the system to the partners, and enables us all to develop and refine the production to the benefit of all, both customers and partners.
